SUMMARY:The Impact of Climate Change on Aging: Finding a Way Forward
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Lisa Brown\, PhD\, ABPP \nDate and Time: April 2nd from 10-11:30AM PT / 11AM-12:30PM MT / 12-1:30PM CT / 1-2:30PM ET \nThe looming threat of an unstable climate and uncertain future can contribute to a sense of existential dread and cause anxiety\, depression\, and feelings of helplessness about the future. Currently\, it is estimated that more than 58 million Americans are aged 65 years and older and that this number will continue to grow steadily to 83 million people by 2050. By recognizing the mental health implications of climate change on older adults and actively engaging in efforts to address these challenges\, mental health clinicians can significantly contribute to promoting mental health resilience in the face of environmental crises. \nLearning Objectives: \n1. Identify the mental health effects of climate change on older adults. \n2. Describe the relationship between the environment and mental and physical health. \n3. Explain the role clinicians can take to address adverse mental health concerns and facilitate climate mental health resiliency. \nPlease register here. \n  \n  \n
