SUMMARY:4Ms-Behavioral Health Social Connection (4Ms-BHSC): A 4Ms-Behavioral Health and Social Connection framework for anyone who supports older adults across Kentucky (Session 2)
DESCRIPTION:Title: 4Ms-Behavioral Health Social Connection (4Ms-BHSC): A 4Ms-Behavioral Health and Social Connection framework for\nanyone who supports older adults across Kentucky (Session 2) \nThis free series will be held on June 3\, June 10\, July 15 and July 22 \nTime: 11AM-12:30PM CT / 12-1:30PM ET \nSpeakers: Erin Emery-Tiburcio\, PhD\, ABPP & Kimberly A. Van Orden\, PhD \nLocation: This is a Private Event in partnership with Team Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services\, and Pennyrile Area Development District.  \nSummary: \nSocial connections that create a sense of caring\, contributing\, and community have a range of benefits for health\, well-being\, and longevity. However\, we have not capitalized on social connection as preventive medicine: it is not routinely assessed or addressed in health or community settings. Social connection is a particularly powerful determinant of health in later life. The 4Ms of an Age-Friendly Health System (What Matters\, Medication\, Mind\, and Mobility) is a framework that has been successfully deployed in health systems and the aging network across the U.S. to optimize the care of older adults. The 4Ms-Behavioral Health Social Connection (4Ms-BHSC) is an extension of that framework that is especially useful to professionals working with older adults around suicide prevention. It provides tools for considering aspects of older adult mental health and substance misuse linked to suicide deaths in later life. In this series\, we will describe how to integrate key dimensions of social connection into the 4Ms Behavioral Health framework to optimize its utility for suicide prevention and older adult wellbeing for all professionals who work with older adults. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Recognize the 4Ms of an Age Friendly Behavioral Health System\n2. Describe dimensions of social connection that impact physical and mental health\n3. Practice using the integrated 4Ms-Behavioral Health Social Connection (4Ms-BHSC) framework for all professionals working with older adults.\n4. Implement strategies and tools for any professional using the 4Ms-BHSC framework in healthcare and community settings to reduce suicide risk and enhance wellbeing. \nFor updates on all events\, please subscribe to the E4Center Newsletter and check back often! \n
