This presentation will provide an overview of two evidence-based practices for improving social functioning and health that were developed for older people with serious mental illness. The Helping Older People Experience Success (HOPES) program is a skills training-based intervention designed to improve interpersonal relationships, social support, and community functioning. The IIMR program helps individuals set personal recovery goals and learn how to manage co-occurring psychiatric and physical health conditions as they work toward achieving their goals. Both programs are manualized and have been implemented in multiple community settings across different states. Research supporting these interventions will be briefly discussed.
