In this session, we will briefly review what ageism is, where it happens, and why it matters; but the focus will be on deepening our understanding of how we all experience and perpetuate ageism. We will discuss strategies that we can use to actively address ageism, especially in our professional settings.
Learning Objectives:
- be able to speak more comfortably about what ageism is and why it matters;
- appreciate the many facets of ageism;
- identify strategies to confront other-directed and self-directed ageism;
- apply anti-ageism strategies in the clinical settings.
