Opioid overdose, misuse, and naloxone rescue education has been shown to be most effective when provided directly in the community setting. Our SAFE- Home Opioid Management Education: Naloxone and Opioid Awareness program focuses on training care coordinators, in-home health care workers and high risk community dwelling older adults on safe opioid practices. Additionally, the SAFE-HOME program trains care provider extenders on opioid overdose and appropriate use of naloxone rescue medication to educate and empower their patients in the midst of the opioid epidemic.
